A watercolour showing a view of the Dubh Loch. The loch is shown in the foreground to the lower left, surrounded by steep hills. Inscribed lower right: Dhu [sic] Loch - Sept: 24. 1874. Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-allt-Shiel from 23 to 26 September 1874. On 24 September 1874 the Queen visited the nearby Dubh Loch. In her journal entry of that day, Queen Victoria describes how "The Loch looked very fine & wild. Had our luncheon in a sheltered spot, & I sketched a little afterwards".
