A watercolour showing a view of snow-covered hills from the Glas-allt-Shiel. Trees are shown in the lower foreground, with the hills rising steeply up behind. Inscribed lower left: [illegible initials] Nov: 18. 1870 Glassalt Sheil. Queen Victoria stayed at the Glas-allt-Shiel from the 17 to 18 November 1870. In her journal entry of 18 November 1870 the Queen describes how she "made a sketch from the window of the Loch, with the lovely effect of light on the snowy hills, reflected on the calm surface of the Lake".
