A watercolour showing a small chalet in the Swiss mountains. The chalet is shown in the centre, with fir trees shown behind. Inscribed lower left: Aug: 27. 1868 [?Seebaden] - Inn - Foot of Rigi - Queen Victoria stayed at Pension Wallis, Lucerne from 7 August to 9 September 1868. The Queen wanted to see the Alps, which her beloved Prince Albert had visited before their marriage, and her doctors had also advised the Queen that the fresh air would be good for her health. On 27 Aug 1868 Queen Victoria and her party made an expedition up Mount Rigi.
