While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 25 October 1864, the Queen rode up the Sròn Dubh hill with her third daughter, Princess Helena. Queen Victoria records the visit in her journal entry of that day, describing how "The view [from Sròn Dubh] was quite splendid". -
