While staying at Balmoral, Queen Victoria made many expeditions to local beauty spots. On 2 September 1867, the Queen rode to Loch Builg with her daughter, Princess Helena, and her son, Prince Leopold. The Queen describes how while there they "sat sketching for some time" in her journal entry of that day.
