A watercolour showing a view of the Rosenau. The Rosenau is shown surrounded by trees and a lawn is shown in the foreground. Inscribed lower left: Rosenau - Oct: 7 - 1860. Sunday - From 22 September to 17 October 1860, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert travelled to Germany with their second daughter Princess Alice to visit their married daughter Victoria, Princess Royal. They stayed in the Palace at Coburg from 25 September to 10 October 1860. Queen Victoria visited the Rosenau with her sister-in-law Princess Alexandrine of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on 7 October 1860. In her journal entry of that day, the queen describes how "we found a good view, & I made a successful sketch, to my great satisfaction".
