On 8 August 1854 Queen Victoria and her family sailed to Alderney Island from Osborne on the Royal Yacht, Victoria & Albert. They anchored overnight in Bray Bay. In her journal entry of 8 August 1854, Queen Victoria describes the Island as "very rocky & barren, but very picturesque". -
