Verso: a watercolour showing a woman, probably Sarah Cooper, a Gypsy who Princess Victoria drew on a number of occasions. She is shown full-length facing forward.
Princess Victoria was fascinated with the Gypsies who had taken camp near Claremont from December 1836 to early January 1837. She spoke to those she encountered on her walks and even provided them with food and blankets during the harsh winter. -
