In her journal, Princess Victoria descibes how Elise was dressed up as a surprise for the future queen's mother (Elise's grandmother), the Duchess of Kent. Princess Elise was the daughter of Queen Victoria's older half-sister Princess Feodore of Leiningen. Feodore, along with her husband and two children, visited Princess Victoria and her mother from 5 June - 26 July 1834. -
