A watercolour drawing of a view of Warwick Castle. An inscription below notes 'from Dudgale's Warwickshire'.
John Buckler was a topographical artist and architect who produced many watercolours of churches and cathedrals. His son, John Chessel Buckler, also worked as a topographical draughtsman. This drawing is one of seven watercolours of various castle and estates made between 1808 and 1822, some of which are signed J. C. Buckler. If this drawing is by John Chessel Buckler, it would have been made when he was 15 years old, an age that is not inconsistent with the style of the drawing.Provenance
