A watercolour depicting an interior view of the Pavilion or royal dining room of the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert II. Signed with initials in monogram at bottom right, and signed and dated at bottom left.
Queen Victoria's second royal yacht was launched in 1855. Its interiors were largely designed by Prince Albert, and the Queen commissioned a sequence of watercolours depicting the yacht's various rooms from Penley after the Prince's death. The room depicted in this watercolour is probably that also described as the State Cabin (Illustrated London News, 18 Aug. 1855); the furniture was of mahogany with leather covers.Provenance
