A watercolour of a crowded outdoor scene, showing the duchesse, the Queen of France and Queen Victoria in the middle ground centre, surrounded by other dignitaries. There are military figures in the background to the left. Signed and dated 'Eug. Lami. 1843.' Inscribed on the border 'Welcome Victoria'.
Provenance
From Queen Victoria's Souvenir Album, volume I, folio (49?). Added later to the album. A watercolour of these dimensions and inscribed as above was presented to Queen Victoria in 1896 by Captain F. Le Clerc, son of a Lady in Waiting to Queen Marie-Amélie.
