William Leighton Leitch (1804-83)
Arrochar, Loch Long c. 1847
Watercolour | 13.5 x 23.0 cm (whole object) | RCIN 919675
-
A watercolour showing boats and houses on the left, with figures on the shore and distant mountains. This and RCIN 919676, 919677, 919678, 919679 and perhaps 919672 illustrate the visit of the Queen and Prince Albert to the West Coast of Scotland in August 1847. It is possible that Leitch accompanied the royal party and made sketches on the tour, but more likely that he followed the route later to make his drawings for the Queen.
