A sheet with drawings for the decoration of the Royal State Coach. On the recto, Mars Minerva and Mercury upholding the Royal crown, and Fortitude (with a column) and Prudence (with a mirror). On the verso is a pen sketch of the side of the coach with four decorated panels, and two pencil and ink sketches of Neptune or the River Thames with a nereid. The decoration on the coach includes these themes, but without close resemblance to the sketches, which probably represent an early idea for the design.

Presented to the Royal Library by Professor Anthony Blunt, Keeper of the King's Pictures, in March 1946.
