A watercolour drawing of a naval Royal occasion at Spithead, June 23 1773. Signed: G. Bray and inscribed 'Spithead 23 June 1773 G. Bray Delint' on the verso in pen and ink. On two pieces of paper, joined.
According to the 'Morning Chronicle', 6 July 1773, the drawing was made and presented to George III by the artist. This was at the request of the King, who had been impressed with a 'masterly' drawing taken by Bray on the spot, and wanted a signed version.Provenance
