A watercolour of the battlefield at Waterloo, with the farm of La Belle Alliance in the distance. The experienced military artist Denis Dighton travelled to Waterloo almost immediately after the battle. He produced nine watercolours of the battlefield, recording among other poignant details the casualties that still awaited burial.
