From 1774 Paul Sandby lived opposite Hyde Park at 4 St George's Row, Bayswater and made many drawings of the park, including a series of the encampments after the Gordon Riots in 1780. This drawing shows the Cheesecake House that stood in Hyde Park from at least the seventeenth century, and was a place where visitors to the park could purchase refreshments, including milk, cheesecake, tarts and syllabub.
