A pen and watercolour drawing of a rustic, two-storied hermitage or summer house, formed of gnarled tree trunks with branches. The cottage is thatched and has a porch at the front. Above the porch, a waggon wheel forms part of the structure. Inscribed in pencil at the lower right corner, 'T. Sandby' and on the verso 'at Frogmore?' in the hand of J. H. Glover, former Royal Librarian.
The drawing is probably a design for Windsor Great Park, made by Thomas Sandby as Deputy Ranger of Windsor Great Park. Two other similar drawings in the Royal Collection (RCINs 914715 and 914716) have the same inscription on the verso. -
