At the left, a man on horseback is herding cattle and sheep. On the right a man is walking in the fields. Inscribed on the back 'Windsor. View of the Castle and Town from the Spital Hill'. Mounted with a grey wash border, and inscribed on the mount in pencil in large letters associated with the dealer Colnaghi, 'Windsor Castle. Paul Sandby'. The same pencil hand appears on RCINs 914604, 914586, and 914713. A watercolour of the same view, with horses in the foreground, sold at Sotheby's, 1 July 2004, lot 174.
