A pen and ink, watercolour and bodycolour drawing of the North East side of Windsor Castle from the foot of the slopes, with trees. In the right corner, a few cattle and deer. Stamped with EVII stamp (Lugt 901) in the right corner. Mounted on a pink and black wash line bordered mount, inscribed in pencil 'Windsor Castle from the Little Park'.
Sandby made many watercolours of the Castle and its grounds, with the animals and tree on the right acting here as a framing device. The present work is probably from the 1770s.
