A pen and ink and watercolour drawing of a horse, saddled and fastened by his bridle to a post. Mounted together with RCINs 914348-914352. Inscribed below in pen and ink on the modern mount, 'Barnard Smith's pad, supposed to have been the fastest nag horse ever known. abt 1752'. A similar drawing is in the British Museum (1904,0819.309).

From a volume of figure studies at the Paul Sandby estate sale, 16-18 April 1817, lot 44; bought by Sir Thomas Dyke Acland; bought for the Royal Library from Sir Francis Dyke Acland in 1930 (the whole volume £30)
