A print by Sisto Badalocchio reproducing, in reverse, the fresco Moses presents the Tablets of the Law painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the ninth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Lettered with the printmaker's monogramme. Trimmed within platemark. This etching is from the publication Historia del Testamento Vecchia of 1607.
The Historia del Testamento Vecchia reproduces all the frescoes in the loggia, with the etchings made by Sisto Badalocchio and Giovanni Lanfranco. The publication is dedicated to Annibale Carracci, with whom both Badalocchio and Lanfranco are said to have trained.Provenance
