A lithograph reproducing the fresco Jacob asks for Rachel as wife painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the sixth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Lettered with names of Raphael, Ludwig Gruner and Consoni. Stamped with a blind stamp at lower right (possibly the publisher's blind stamp; not in Lugt). Published in Scripture prints from the frescoes of Raphael in the Vatican. Edited by Lewis Gruner. With an introductory preface by the Rev. Charles H.H. Wright, London 1866.
Passavant (see Bibliographic References) noted that the lithographs in this publication, made from drawings by Nicola Consoni (1814-84) of the frescoes, were made 'in the manner of woodcuts'.Provenance
