An engraving believed to be after a lost preparatory design by Raphael for the fresco Isaac blesses Jacob painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the fifth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican. Lettered top right 'RAFAEL / URBINAS / INVEN', and signed with the engraver's monogram (Nagler 1423) at lower right. Second state, with the date reinscribed from 1522 to 1524. On watermarked paper. Trimmed on all sides and mounted on another sheet of paper. Not in Ruland (1876).
This print is inscribed 'N Langlois' in ink on the verso, which may indicate the previous ownership of it by the engraver, publisher and print dealer Nicolas Langlois I (1640-1703) or his son, also a print dealer called Nicolas (c.1670-1707).Provenance
