A print reproducing (with additions and a few changes) the left-hand part of Raphael's fresco of The Fire in the Borgo, painted in 1514 in the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican. Dated and with artists' names along the lower margin below image. Lettered at upper right with: O, followed by a stylised star (?).
Ruland (1876) followed Passavant (1860) in describing this print as after a small painting then in the possession of J.J. Sandrart, who described it in his work entitled Der Teutsche Academie. This print has also been included as illustration in Sandrart's Nobilissimae Artis Pictoriae (published in 1683).Provenance
