A photograph of a drawing attributed to Raphael (c.1516) now in the Musée Condé, Chantilly (inv. no.57(48 bis)). The drawing is a preparatory study for the man carrying a bench in the left foreground of the fresco of The Coronation of Charlemagne, painted in the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican in c.1516-17. The authorship of the drawing is subject of much debate. For further discussion, see Bibliographic References.
