An engraving probably after a lost drawing or carton by Raphael for the so-called Madonna della Quercia, a painting attributed to Raphael and his workshop (c.1518-19) now in the Museo del Prado, Madrid (inv. no.303) generally reputed to be after a design by the master. Lettered at lower left with attribution of the design to Raphael and engraver's name.
Showing the full length seated Virgin holding the Christ Child on her right knee, who reaches for the inscribed scroll held by the Young John the Baptist who stands at left, with St Joseph resting on a sculpted fragment at right and looking on; with ruins in the background.Provenance
