An engraving after the so-called Large Cowper Madonna, a painting by Raphael (1508) now in the National Gallery, Washington DC (inv. no.25). Proof with some lettering and dedicatee's coat of arms.
Showing the seated Virgin holding the Child Christ on her lap, who grasps His mother’s bodice while looking at the viewer. Ruland catalogued the painting as being in the collection of the Earl Cowper, Penshanger, at that time.Provenance
