A hand-coloured plate of a surgeon standing at a table on which is placed a bag full of dissecting tools. The surgeon picks a large knife from the collection as a young girl anxiously alerts the doctor that a shocked young man lying on a table and covered by a shroud has resumed consciousness. In the cupboard behind the man is a skeleton. A bust of Hippocrates stands on a lintel above the door and a bill on the wall reads: 'A course of anatomical lectures accompanied with dissections will be delivered tomorrow evening by Professor Sawbone'.
