A hand-coloured print of a vicar, snugly enjoying the comfort of an armchair as he snoozes. His friend sits at a table pouring out port and smoking as he says rather hopefully 'What is life without the enjoyment of a friend'. By the sleeping vicar's feet lies a copy of the Oxford Journal. A painted view of the vicarage is on the wall in the background. Two dogs lie, asleep on the floor. Inscribed in the plate: Pubd Sept 10 1799 by R Ackerman No 101 Strand / Woodward Del / Etched by Rowlandson
