An uncoloured print of Lieutenant Bowling standing on the left with the young Roderick Random, the latter standing, holding his hat, during a visit to Roderick's grandfather who is seated in an invalid's chair with his right foot bound owing to gout. The old man is surrounded by disapproving relatives as Bowling pleads the boy's case. Print used to illustrate the book, 'The Adventures of Roderick Random.' Inscribed in the plate: G.M.
