A hand-coloured print of the panic and confusion caused by a fire at an Inn. Men and women climb from the burning building trying to rescue their belongings. One man attempts to douse the flames by throwing the contents of a chamberpot at the fire. A woman climbs down from a ladder. A fat man wearing a red cloak and lop-sided wig stands, confused whilst a young dandy supports a young woman in his arms. A sign on the side of the Inn reads 'Dover, Deal, Margate and Canterbury Post Coaches' Inscribed in the plate: Drawn & Etch'd by T Rowlandson / Aquatinta by T Malton / Publish'd Aug 1st 1788 by T.Malton No 6 Conduit Street, Hanover Square
