An uncoloured print from the Picturesque Beauties of Boswell series. James Boswell and Margaret, his wife entertain Dr Johnson. They all sit around a square table drinking tea. Dr Johnson uses sugar tongs to add sugar to his tea. Mrs Boswell clasps her hands to her breast in admiration of their guest whilst her husband waxes lyrical. A servant stands on the right in the background, yawning. Inscribed in the plate: Publish'd May 15th 1786 by E Jackson No 14 Mary-le-Bone Street Golden Square
