A lead and antinomy urn with a fixed cover with a fruit and foliage finial, the cover cast with leaves in high relief; the body cast with figures representing Summer, the lower body gadrooned, on a circular spreading base decorated with oak leaves. Stone socle and marble plinth.
The vase bodies cast by Filips van der Mij in Leiden. The feet and lids were modelled by Giovanni Battista Lurago.
The vase is one in a set of four on the East Terrace at Windsor Castle which each represent the seasons.Provenance
Purchased by George IV in 1825. Received at Carlton House from Mr Graham of Waterloo Place on 25th July 1825 'Four large vases (...)' at a cost of £472.10.0 (Jutsham Receipts Vol.II p.206).
