George IV displayed an early interest in arms, armour and uniforms, which he maintained right up to his death. He owned a number of guns by Durs Egg, the Swiss-born British gunsmith who specialised in flintlock pistols. This rifle was supplied to the Regent by the gunsmith and retailer Robert Wogdon. The barrel bears the view and proof marks of the London Gunmakers' Company.
Provenance
These pistols were bought from Wogdon for the Royal Collection.
