Engraving of Philippe II the Bold, Prince, Duke of Burgundy. Whole length with long hair, circlet, armour, robes, and mantle. The Duke is pictured standing, holding a sword in left hand and a scroll of papers in the right. Within a rectangular border with French inscription below. Plate from Charles Gavard's Galeries historiques de Versailles published in the 1830s and 1840s. The plate is signed 'Diagraphe et Pantographe Gavard', indicating that the plate was created using an invention devised by Gavard which allowed him to create accurate copies of images in various scaled-down sizes.
