  • An engraving with etching of Françoise Madeleine d'Orléans, Duchess of Savoy. A half length portrait, her hair in ringlets upon neck, pearl earring and necklace, low bodice with jewelled chains. Within border.

Three prints in Cassiano's collection belong to a series of royal portraits published by Moncornet with others. The series is difficult to date, but the portrait of Françoise d'Orléans includes the year of her marriage, 1663. On the assumption that all the prints were made at around the same time, the series is dated c.1665. See also RCINs 616050 and 616006.

The print formed part of an album of French royal portrait prints assembled by Cassiano dal Pozzo in Rome and described in an early nineteenth-century inventory of prints in George III's library as Kings of France, Queens and other illustrious Personages. The album was arranged chronologically, with kings and their consorts together, while the latter part of the album was devoted to the female aristocracy of France. It was dismantled later in the nineteenth century and its prints incorporated into the series of Engraved Royal Portraits (organised dynastically).
