Engraving of George II, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Sophia Eleonora of Saxony, Landgravine of Hesse-Darmstadt with six of their children. Whole length figures: George II with long hair, lace collar, and armour is pictured standing at the centre beside the three figures of his sons with Ludwig VI at his right hand side. Beside the figure of the Landgrave is pictured his consort, Sophia Eleonora of Saxony, with jewelled hair in ringlets, pearl necklace and gown. To the right of the Landgravine is pictured the standing figure of her eldest daughter Sophia Eleonora, with two infants behind. The family group is pictured within an interior with columns and drapery behind and with a view of a landscape in the background. With Latin inscription on cartouche below. A plate from Johann Tacke's Unverweslicher Ceder-Baum : zu ewigem Andencken und Namens Unsterblichkeit des durchleuchtigsten Fursten und Herrn, Herrn Georgen des Andern, Landgraffens zu Hessen (1666).
