Woodcut of John Frederick II, Duke of Saxony, John William, Duke of Saxe-Weimar, and John William, Duke of Saxe-Weimar. The three sons of John Frederick I the Magnanimous are pictures seated at a table, each in plumed hats, slashed doublets, and robes edged in fur. Below each sitter a coat of arms is displayed, and behind the group can be seen the view of the interior of a great hall. Without titles, with the identities of the sitters handwritten below. With German text printed on the verso, cut down from a volume.
This print has been taken from an unknown edition of Martin Lutherr's Alle Bücher und Schrifften, with the text on the verso corresponding to Alle Bücher und Schrifften. 6, Vom XXXIII (1557), however in this impression must be from a later edition as the block is more worn. Other impressions from the same block were printed in the 1557 and 1566 editions of Tomus Secundus Omnium operum, as well as in Tomus Tertius Omnium operum in 1557, 1567, and 1583. -
