Engraving of Elizabeth I, Queen of England. Two scenes from the Queen's reign depicting failed attempts on her life adhered to a single sheet. The first, a representation of the assassination attempt to Somerville showing Elizabeth I enthroned in the centre, with a view of his capture by guards to the left, and his death by self strangulation in prison on the right. Below, another scene of an assassination attempt showing William Parry addressing the Queen while brandishing a knife, in the background right a view of Parry hanging from the gallows. Cut down with handwritten inscriptions below, detailing the events depicted. Each prints illustrations from George Carleton, A Thankfull Remembrance of Gods Mercy, (1627).
