A porcelain dessert plate with a lobed gilt gadrooneed rim; dark blue border with six pale-yellow reserves painted with the Insignia of different Russian Orders of insignia, surrounded by jewelled white dot borders; Badge of the Order of St. Andrew at centre.
Provenance
Part of a dessert service commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1845 for presentation to the Russian Emperor Nicholas I, copying the 1833 William IV Worcester service, the English Insignia replaced by those of Russian Orders; sample in V&A No.3386-1901.
