Small maroon leather photograph case containing an ambrotype of a painting of Queen Victoria. The case is decorated with gilt lines on the outside and closed with a clasp. The case open to reveal a chased gilt metal frame containing the ambrotype on the left and a red, velvet interior on the right.
The painting photographed depicts Queen Victoria at the opera by Edmund Thomas Parris. A drawing of the work exists in the Royal Collection, RCIN 917912.Provenance
