Dessert stand (part of The Grand Service) hallmark 1811/12

Two silver-gilt dessert stands, each cast with three female figures, the three Graces, their arms upraised to support a basket chased with palmettes and anthemions, and with plain liner. The figures stand on a circular base with a guilloche border, supported on a short fluted pedestal with acanthus scroll brackets and a triangular base with incurved sides.
These stands formed part of the original commission from George IV to Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, for a dining service which would eventually earn the title 'The Grand Service'. They were delivered to Carlton House in 1811, and were described as 'two ornaments to place at each end of the table'. They were designed to support floral arrangements and were gilded from the first. -
