A pair of large silver-gilt sideboard dishes, each with an undulating rim, cast in the centre with a mythological scene (one with Jupiter destroying the Titans, the other with the Battle of the Giants) within an inner border of scrolling foliage on a matt ground and an outer border of acanthus and floral sprays, with a reeded and ribbon-tied rim.
Provenance
This pair of dishes were purchased by George IV when Prince Regent, in June 1811, for £274 14s 5d.
