A watercolour and bodycolour drawing of Windsor Castle from Lammas Fields. On the left, a path bordered by a wooden fence and a bank of trees. In the foreground, a woman in a red cloak and a girl in a white and black dress are walking along the path. More figures are further back. In the middle distance on the right, a figure is stoking a bonfire. In the distance, a view of the south front of Windsor Castle. In a twentieth-century wash-line bordered mount. On the verso, a handwritten label in pen and ink, affixed to the modern frame, 'Windsor Castle, taken from the stile in the Lammas Fields Paul Sandby R.A.' The Lammas Fields are approximately the area between the present St Leonard's Road and Sheet Street/Frances Road. The costume of the figures indicates a date in the 1790s.
