A watercolour and bodycolour panoramic highland landscape, depicting the northern end of Loch Awe in Argyllshire and the ruined Kilchurn Castle with youths and cattle in the right foreground. Signed and dated. Fripp, who was particularly admired for his views of Scotland, made a number of views of Kilchurn Castle. This view was engraved by R. Wallis and reproduced in volume three of 'Royal Gallery of Art', a four-volume publication (1855-61) - sanctioned by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert - which reproduced a selection of the paintings and sculpture in the Royal Collection.
