Royal Guelphic Order of Hanover, Grand Cross Collar. In two-colour yellow and rose gold, formed of 24 elements comprising 12 lions passant guardant, six elaborate intertwined Royal cyphers of George III and six crowns, all joined with reeded oval chain links including fine shackle fittings for attachment to each element; the central crown fitted with a gold carrier ring opened and closed with a knurled thumb nut to accept collar badge.
Provenance
Made for HRH Prince Adolphus, 1st Duke of Cambridge, who was appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Order in 1815, shortly after its foundation; purchased by Royal Collection Trust from Sotheby's sale, London, 3 July 2018 (Lot 1).
