  • Queen Victoria is depicted by Ernest Rinzi wearing State robes, the Small Crown over a lace veil, the diamond collet necklace and earrings, the sash and star of the Order of the Garter and the badge of the Order of Victoria and Albert, and a pearl bracelet containing a miniature of Prince Albert; a figurine of Britannia is to the right.

    Born in London in 1836, Ernest Rinzi exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1886 to 1899. He was also a member of the Society of Miniature Painters.

    Signed along lower right edge in white paint: E. RINZI, inscribed in white paint around the upper edge: IN COMMEMORATION OF THE SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF H.M. QUEEN VICTORIA'S GLORIOUS REIGN 1897 / VICTORIA R.I. and inscribed on the reverse in ink beneath a sketch of the crown: In Commemoration of the Sixtieth / Anniversary of H.M. Queen / Victoria's / Glorious Reign 1837 – 1897 / Commemorative Miniature Portrait / of Her Majesty Painted on / Ivory by Ernest Rinzi M.S.M. / June 1897.
