Set of mahogany hall chairs with an arched back bearing the VA monogram within a circle, enclosed in a strapwork cartouche; solid seat with incised lines; the X-frame legs joined by a turned cross-stretcher, lion's paw feet.
Provenance
Originally founded in 1803 by Stephen Taprell and William Holland, a relation of the architect Henry Holland, the firm of Holland & Sons were granted the Royal Warrant early in the reign of Queen Victoria and took a leading part in the decoration and furnishing of Osborne, Sandringham and Balmoral.
