This lush painted scene incorporates the national bird of Saint Lucia, the Saint Lucia Amazon. In 1978 the parrot was the subject of a successful conservation programme which increased the population from 150 birds to over 400.

Presented to Queen Elizabeth II by the Premier of St. Lucia, for the occasion of her Silver Jubilee during the commonwealth tour of Ottawa and the Caribbean 14th October - 2nd November 1977
